After two successful dances in Marshside, with the Scimitars providing the live music it became obvious that a bigger venue was needed as demand for tickets was outstripping the space available. There was also the added impetus of two other excellent, local bands looking for an opportunity to play a local gig for their ‘home’ fans. Marshside Rocks was born! Probably the best village dance in the world.

We needed an indoor venue (to avoid the vagaries of the English summer) big enough to hold followers of all four bands but small enough to keep it ‘cosy.’ After a lengthy process of about an hour the new Mansfield’s store house has been appropriated for the purpose. This will hold 200+, has good parking and is easily accessible from the A299 and surrounding districts. There will be clean toilets, lighting, tables and chairs, a Real Ale bar and BBQ. Doors will be open at 5.45pm and the live music will start at 6.00pm.

The 2009 dance was a huge success and will be a hard act to follow next year – we will however be doing our best to maintain the high standard of music on offer. Keep an eye on the website for details as they become available.

In order to keep the whole thing going we need to attract some commercial sponsorship. We are happy to discuss any offers of support either in equipment or cash in return for banners and other forms of promotion that may be deemed suitable and ‘in-keeping’. To discuss the possibilities please contact Mike via the web address.

Hope to see you all in 2010 and keep Marshside rocking.
